MALAM JABBA, 06 March: The three-day Swat Snow Festival concluded at the scenic Malam Jabba tourist resort here on Sunday, pulling a large number of tourists from across the country.
The Tourism Corporation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (TCKP) and the district administration Swat had jointly organised the festival.
The festival featuring skiing, skating, tobogganing, tubing, paragliding, and other snow related activities attracted large number of tourists from across the country.
Tourists praised the facilities at the ski resort, saying everyone should visit Malam Jabba during the winter season as it offered fun which was not possible during summer.
A music show and stalls of local handicraft, food, traditional dresses and other cultural stuff were showcased in the event.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Sports & Tourism, Mehmood Khan, was the chief guest at the concluding ceremony. He gave away prizes and medals to the winner teams. Local skiing teams, including DPO Swat, Seams Sons and DC Swat teams clinched the first, second and third position, respectively. Mehmood Khan also announced Rs 50,000 cash prize for the first position holder.
The Swat Snow Festival in Malam Jabba was aimed at promoting and reviving tourism and attracting tourists to the serene valley.
Besides skiing, paragliding and other competitions were also held while playland, music show, food and handicrafts stalls were the other features of the festival.
Stalls of local cuisines, handcrafts, traditional dresses showcasing culture of the province attracted the visitors. The visitors, including men, women and families enjoyed the local foods and evinced a keen interest in the traditional dresses.
