As the people of Tharparkar have received very little rain this monsoon, they have gathered in a village to pray for rains.

Following the tradition, the people of Sooram village about 40km from Mithi, collect funds from everyone in the village and purchase rice, flour, sugar and ghee. They take all this to the pond of rain water where they cook the food and distribute it among the children who pray for rain.

In the local language, people say aloud, “Aakho payo, menhn jo Sayo” meaning “contribute something for the hope of rain.”
