PESHAWAR: Around 57 persons suffer burn injuries on daily basis in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa but there is not a single burn center to treat them, revealed a report of Districts Health Information Center here Monday.

The report recorded 5150 persons have suffered minor or severe burn injuries in the first three months of this year in the province.

The report revealed that there were burn wards in hospitals of the province but they have been dysfunctional. It said that due to non-existence of a well-equipped burn centers, 40 percent of burn victims are shifted to other provinces for treatment.

The Peshawar High Court recently sought reply from the provincial government to explain non-existence of a burn hospital. The court resent the non-availability of the burn center. On the other hand, USAID announced to build a 120-bed burn center in Peshawar.
