PESHAWAR: Civil Society activists on Tuesday alleged federal government of considering to cut the powers of National Commission for Human Rights (NCHR).
While addressing a news conference in Peshawar press club, Qamar Naseem, Rukhshanda Naz, Taimur Kamal and Shafique Gigyani have alleged that the Ministry for Human Rights is mulling amendment in the law to shrink powers of NCHR. They said that the decision is violation of NCHR Act. They also alleged federal government of not issuing fund for the human rights commission.

Civil Society activists said that only parliament has the authority to review the performance of human rights commission. They urged NCHR provincial members to play their role in this regard. They demanded of the federal government to immediately release fund for the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan and maintain its independence status.
