Jellyfish is a free-swimming marine coelenterate with a jelly like bell or saucer-shaped body. This creature heads towards Arabian sea during the months of May and June.
Locally known as “Leemadi”, jellyfish is one of the most caught fishes in Pasni.
Tons of Jellyfish are transported to Karachi via different types of vehicles from where there are exported to China, Thailand and other foreign countries.
Nakhuda Saleem told PakVoices ” the Jellyfish cannot be touched unless we wear gloves to cover our hands or it makes one itchy whole day.”
Jellyfish being sold at Rs. 50/kg in local market whereas it is sold on much higher rate in Karachi fisheries while the rate reaches to thousands of Pakistani rupees in International markets.
