ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar on Saturday took suo moto notice of gang rape with a transgender person in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

This followed a media report that revealed that an 18-year-old transgender was allegedly kidnapped and then raped by nine unidentified people in Peshawar.

CJP sought a report from IG KP within three days. The victim was an active member of her community. An FIR was initially denied but later registered after the case reported in India. The police failed to collect DNA samples or fulfill other requirements after the case was reported.
