The Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Mian Saqib Nisar directed the chief secretary Sindh to submit the report on the increasing deaths of children in Tharparkar as one child in Mithi and one in Nagarparkar died today, confirmed Civil Hospital, Mithi doctors to PakVoices.
The death toll of children in the district has risen to 98 this year according to the district health office.
The chief justice took a Suo moto after the media reported and highlighted the official report revealing the plight of the ailing children due to malnutrition.
According to the report compiled by the District Health Office, 9,187 children under the age of five years were admitted to six health facilities in the district. Out of which, so far, 98 children have died of malnutrition while 145 children with a serious condition were referred to the hospitals in Hyderabad and Karachi.

Earlier this month, PakVoices reported the issue quoting the district health officer Dr. Akhlaq Ahmad who said that he did not have any update on those referred children whether they survived or died in the hospitals.
The report brought to the light the plight of the children who are vulnerable to malnutrition due to lack of sanitation, clean drinking water, enough food and basic health services.
The intense heat is contributing to the woes of the ailing children.
Dawn.com reported that the district health officer confirmed that the detailed report has been sent to the provincial higher-ups after the Supreme Court took sou moto notice of the issue.
